Tips and Questions
INFO FOR PLAYERS:
The Puff Quidditch League is a group of Pottermore Hufflepuffs who are separated into different teams according to their participation and effort. If you participate more, you go up. If you don't, you go down a level.
Puffs are hard working, loyal, and honest. We also love to play quidditch! There are several teams which can be seen in the JOIN NOW tab. Yellow most advanced. No matter what, you will always be part of some team.
When are practices?
Practices occur on SUNDAYS. The time is 9:00 AM MDT TIME (USA MOUNTAIN TIME) or 3:00 PM GMT TIME (UK). If you are unsure of exactly when you should be on Pottermore for practice for YOUR COUNTRY, please click the following link and enter in the proper time conversion table for yourself:

Thank you! You will be expected to show up at as many practices as you can in order to stay on the team. If you are unable to go to the practices due to logistical reasons (time), please contact Bubblegum by using the Tips and Questions format above. She will figure out a time that you can still practice with us!
Where are practices?
Practices are on the FAT FRIAR: HOUSE GHOST page that can be accessed from the Hufflepuff House Common Room. We will usually meet in the Common Room, and then head over to the Fat Friar page so that we do not spam the Common Room for other House members.
What and when are matches?
Matches are often held at the end of practices. These matches take place between teams, but not usually against other houses. Since Pottermore expands all over the world, it is hard to create a time where both teams can join to practice. If you can somehow set up a match with another house, please do so and tell us by submitting a form in the Tips box above.
When you sign up in the Join Now tab, your response will be looked at by Bubblegum and some others. If your answer is complete, we will mark your name down and assign you to one of the teams that are available.
The way the teams work are based on participation, not really skill (since it is of course roleplay). The more you participate, the better chance you have of moving up. At the same time, we understand if you aren't able to make some games or practices. However, not attending any practices at all, or simply not communicating with anyone about it, can move you down in rankings very fast.
SUBS: Subs are something that we use to let everybody play during practice matches. Usually, players from other teams will sub in for another team to get playing time. However, we also have team subs that are part of your team and are subs for one specific person. These are BACKUPS. These players are usually Keepers or Seekers because there are so many players that want those spots, but not enough teams. So those backups get to play the position they really want, while having a supportive team to help them along!
The way that we play quidditch is by "passing" it to each other in comments, scoring, but also acting like the humans that we are (occasionally dropping the ball or missing a shot at scoring). This is both more entertaining and fun for everyone! Here is an example:
Keeper:
"(I barely save the quaffle) Here! (pass it to the Chaser)"
Chaser:
"Got it! (Weave in and out through Slytherin's team and quickly pass the quaffle to Chaser #2)"
Chaser #2:
"(Catch the quaffle and try scoring on the left hoop, but miss) Oh! I can never get the curve right!"
Chaser #3:
"(Grabs quaffle before other Keeper gets it) Beaters! Help me!"
Beater:
"Gotcha! (Aims Bludger to the oppressing Slytherin Chaser) Bullseye! Go, Chaser!"
...and so on!!!
Good luck, and may the words of Albus Dumbledore enlighten your day:
"Happiness can be found
even in the darkest of times...
if only one remembers
to turn on
the light."
Here is a guide to types of brooms:
Nimbus Brand: This is a high quality brand that creates comfortable and reliable racing brooms, extremely good for quidditch. This is most recommended by the team captain.
Firebolt Brand: This is a professional level broom that, though costly, is one of the best out there. It moves with the slight of touch and is also very comfy to ride. The team captain has this broom, but honestly prefers her Nimbus 2001.
Cleansweep Brand: All of these brooms are what wizarding families everywhere purchase for their households. This brand is safe, dependable, and an easy ride. This is another recommended brand for quidditch players.
All other broom brands: All of the other brooms that were included on the tryout form are also dependable, nice brands, some of which, like the Swiftstick, have been known to be owned by professional quidditch players. Any broom you chose will most likely fit you perfectly.
Additional Broom Notes:
Please take note that though Firebolts are known as the best broom, they are also easily jinxed as the famous Hermione Granger knew only too well. These brooms can handle much, but after a couple chips in the handle it looses it's smoothness.
The most recommended brand would be Nimbus, preferably Nimbus 2000 and 2001. Cleansweeps are also recommended because they can hold much wear and still work fine.
May the best broom win!
